The construction season is in full swing in Rockford Public Schools and we are moving dirt! After many months of planning, it is terrific to see all of the hard work of many individuals come to fulfillment. Thank you to the community for your vision and support of the May 2008 bond issue.

The building projects for this spring and summer were divided into five packages, with 98 bid categories. We received 580 bids for the work and the Board of Education has awarded 75 different contracts to sub-contractors, with the majority of those in West Michigan.

The Board of Education also recently approved projectors for all classrooms, audio-reinforcement microphone systems for al K-8 classrooms and speaker systems for 9-12 classrooms. Implementation and installment of the multi-media equipment will be over the two-year timeframe, depending on the construction schedule at the specific buildings.

As you can see it will be a busy summer in Rockford Public Schools. During these difficult economic times, we appreciate the community’s support and are excited about the opportunities and updated facilities that are being provided for the students of Rockford Public Schools.
