Meadow Ridge Elementary is the proud home of 533 students and 69 staff members who are passionately dedicated to the students’ safety, security, and emotional well-being. “Our Meadow Ridge family is safe, respectful, and responsible.” The banner hangs in our hallway. It’s the key component of our identity as a learning community. We are the first Rockford Elementary to pilot PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). The backbone of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program is to build positive behaviors through the teaching of expected behaviors rather than the punishment of negative behaviors. This creates a climate and culture of security, honesty, positivity, and stability which are critical for student growth and development.
Meadow Ridge is excited to be the location for our district Early Childhood Center which was launched in the Fall of 2011. All RPS Developmental Kindergarten (DK) students and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) students attend Meadow Ridge as part of this center. Having both programs at the same school allows both groups to receive enhanced services. While having all these young, sweet children brightens our building every day, Meadow Ridge continues to relish its opportunity to cultivate relationships with our K-5 resident students and their families as well. Our school is supported by a fantastic PTO and we are blessed to have the aid of an army of parent volunteers, including our new Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students). Every day these parents are the ‘Heroes of the Hallways’ and the ‘Pride of the Playground’ as they help provide security and support within our school.
All Rockford Public Schools are Blue Ribbon Exemplary Schools, with Meadow Ridge receiving its state award in March of 2009. Meadow Ridge Elementary is fully accredited by AdvancED and has been awarded an “A” for the past the past seven years by the State of Michigan which awards letter grades to all schools through the “Education Yes” program based on test scores and school improvement data. We are proud of our Michigan Education Assessment Program (MEAP) scores as they are consistently above the state average in all subject areas.
Welcome to Meadow Ridge!
I hope that this brief introduction to Meadow Ridge proves to be helpful. We will all do our best to make both you and your child/children feel comfortable and valued members of the Meadow Ridge family. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and, again, always feel free to call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
In the joy of learning,
Blake R. Bowman
